Ans: Thus, concisely speaking, resources are objects or qualities that are considered to be useful for human beings and used accordingly.

2. What are the human factors that play an important role in recognising natural elements as resources?

Ans: Three main human factors help people decide whether a natural element can be used as a resource:

(i) Cultural Values: People’s traditions, customs, beliefs, and social practices influence what they accept or reject for use. A society may use certain natural elements differently based on its culture.

(ii) Technology: The tools and techniques available in a society determine how natural elements can be collected, processed, and made usable. Better technology allows people to turn more natural elements into useful resources.

(iii) Economic System: The economic condition of a society influences how resources are acquired, used, and distributed. Some societies are more capable of using a wider range of commodities because of stronger economic systems.
