Ans: Land is a valuable natural resource. It covers 29 percent of the earth’s surface. It is the basis of living world. Land resources are used for agricultural activities, industry, extraction of minerals, afforestation, housing, construction of roads, etc. Human settlements are also established on land. Land is used for forests which help to maintain ecological balance. The economic development of a country depends largely on proper utilisation of land resources.

4. What changes have taken place with respect to land resource in your place? Prepare a note taking help from elders in your family or resourceful persons from neighbouring place.

Ans: In my place, many agricultural lands have been transformed for settlement and construction of roads. Due to population increase, cultivable land is decreasing. Some forest areas are also being cleared. However, plantation programmes and awareness regarding proper use of land have also increased.

5. What role should be taken while using forest resource and water resource?

Ans: Forest and water resources should be used carefully. Forests should not be destroyed and afforestation should be encouraged. Water should not be wasted and sources of water must be kept free from pollution. Everyone should be aware of their utilisation, management and conservation.

6. What steps should be taken for conservation of energy resource?

Ans: Energy resources should be used economically. Wastage should be avoided. We should use non-conventional energy like solar energy, wind energy, etc. More emphasis should be given on recycling and proper use of energy.
