1. Answer the following questions:

(a) What is meant by family?

Ans: Family is the basic unit of society.

(b) In what ways are members added to a family?

Ans: There are three ways in which members are added to a family- by birth, by marriage and by adoption.

(c) What do members of a family need to do to run the family smoothly?

Ans: It is worth mentioning that everyone in Angad’s family help in the household chores which enables the household to run smoothly.

(d) What does Indian tradition say about family?

Ans: For these reasons, the role of the family is given a very high place in Indian tradition. It considers the whole world as one family. The Upanishads and the Hitopadesha refer to this concept as ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’.

2. What do we get from family?

Ans: These small instances help in inculcating qualities like following rules and regulations of the society, respecting others, tolerance, cooperation, etc. which are essential to become a healthy social being in the future.
