(a) Give the central idea of the poem. – কবিতাটির মূলভাব প্রকাশ কর।
Ans. In this poem the poet thinks that he will never see a poem as beautiful as a tree. A poem can never be no nice as a tree which, like a human being, is nourished by the mother earth. The poet imagines that the tree looks at God through out the day and lifts its leafy arms to pray to God. In the summer days the tree decorates its hair with the nest of robins. The tree lives in close relationship with snow and rain. The poet here acknowledges the superiority of God’s creative capability when he says that only God can make a tree.
(b) Give after the poet, a description of the tree. – কবির মত অনুসারে একটি বৃক্ষের বর্ণনা দাও।
Ans. According to the poet, the tree gets nourishment from the breast of the mother earth. She looks at God through out the day and lifts her leafy arms to pray to God. In the summer the tree wears the nest of robins in her hair. Snow lies upon her bosom and she lives close relationship with rain. She is the creation of God.
(c) Explain the meaning contained in the following lines:
‘A tree whose hungry mouth is prest Against the carth’s sweet flowing breast.’ – নিম্নলিখিত লাইনগুলির অর্থ ব্যাখ্যা কর:
Ans. The poet here personifies the tree. He wants to explain that as a human being is nourished by the mother the tree also gets nourishment from the mother earth. The mother earth quests the hunger of the tree with her sweet flowing breast.
